FCSR Zurich Triumphs in London – International Tournament 2025

For the sixth time, Swiss Re Football Club teams came together from across Europe for the much-anticipated International Tournament – this year hosted in vibrant Shoreditch, London, on Friday, September 26.

A total of seven teams competed in the 7-a-side format: two from Zurich, two from Bratislava, two from London, and one from Munich. The group stage saw all teams facing each other in exciting and hard-fought matches, followed by tense semi-finals and a thrilling final.

Our Zurich squads once again showed their class:

Zurich Team 1 narrowly missed the semi-finals, finishing 5th place due to a heartbreaking single-goal difference.
Zurich Team 2, however, wrote another chapter in Swiss Re football history, proudly lifting the trophy for the third consecutive time!

The final against a strong London side was a true spectacle. With the score tied, the match went to a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. It was here that our CFO Pavol stepped up as goalkeeper and became the hero of the day, making crucial saves. Finally, Anton Khan kept his cool and converted the decisive penalty, sealing another unforgettable victory for Zurich.

But the tournament was not just about football. The weekend offered plenty of opportunities to strengthen friendships across offices: from shared dinners, drinks, and long chats, to a Saturday outing at Charlton vs. Blackburn Rovers – a match that ended with an exciting 3:0 win for the home side.

We return from London with not only a trophy but also wonderful memories, stronger connections, and great anticipation for next year’s edition of this fantastic tournament.
